Situated to the south of the Arctic Circle is Mo I Rana, a town in Nordland County, Norway. It is the second largest town in Nordland. Since the Iron Age, farmers have been residing in the region. Initially mining, boat building, hunting, and fishing were the major occupation of the natives. It is considered as the gateway to the caves, forests, and glaciers of the Arctic Circle. The Havmanndagene festival is held here each year. The regional theater which tours in Nordland (Nordland Theater) was setup in the year 1979. In the downtown is located the Rana Museum where exhibits lay stress on day-to-day life of the localities during the 20th century. In the old part of the region is the Natural History Museum. Here the emphasis is on the animals of the town. Mo Church is a parish church situated in Mo I Rana. The structure of the church is made from wood and was constructed in the year 1724 and is capable enough to accommodate nearly 400 people.
