Chamarel
Chamarel is a beautiful village located in the south of the island. It is
the most visited natural site in Mauritius and is home to the highest
waterfall of the island - the Chamarel Waterfall. It is a waterfall of more
than 100 meters ending up in an enormous natural pool. The famous
“seven-coloured earth” of Chamarel is a unique marvel composed of distinct
colours of sand dunes. The land of Chamarel takes different shades
depending on the climate and the time of day. This phenomenon happens due
to the cooling of the land of volcanic origin at different temperatures.
Port Louis
Port Louis is a city with a wide variety of attractions. Some of the most
beautiful buildings here include religious monuments, racetrack of Champ de
Mars, a citadel, and Aapravasi Ghat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The
colourful market is also a popular attraction of the city. Also called
“Bazaar,” this market has everything from souvenirs to traditional
Mauritian clothing, exotic fruits to the famous street food such as Gateau
Piment and Dholl Puri.
Le Morne
Le Morne is an apt place to visit for tourists looking for a peaceful
destination. It is a small hamlet located on the southwest tip of the
island. Its most popular attraction is its public beach that is one of the
most beautiful and immaculate beaches of the island. This beach is far from
tourist influx and is almost deserted. Le Morne is also home to Le Morne
Brabant, a beautiful natural site offering amazing views.
