Museo de Antropologia e Historia:
A standout museum located in Toluca, Museo de Antropologia e Historia presents exhibits on the history of the state from ancient times to the 20th century. The exhibits at Museo de Antropologia e Historia also trace pre-Hispanic cultural influences up to the present day in tools, religion, textiles, and clothing. Almost all of the labels in the museum are only in Spanish.
Museo de Arte Moderno:
Tracing the development of Mexican art right from the late 19th century Academia de San Carlos to the Nueva Plastica, Museo de Arte Moderno incorporates paintings by Orozco, Tamayo, and several others. In the museum, there is an engrossing spherical mural of people fighting against slavery. Museo de Arte Moderno also boasts exhibits of challenging pieces of modern art.
Cosmovitral Jardin Botanico:
Located at the northeast end of Plaza Garibay, Cosmovitral Jardin Botanico is a stunning botanical garden built in 1909. It is now a 3500 square meters of lovely gardens. It is an excellent place to visit for nature lovers and photography freaks.
Centro Cultural Mexiquense:
Housing three museums, Centro Cultural Mexiquense is a large cultural center located around 4.5 kilometers west of the city center. It is a worthwhile diversion for tourists interested in modern art, local art and crafts, and local archaeology. To reach here, one can taxi from downtown.
