Train Station
One of the most imposing buildings in the city, Train Station is a landmark station of Maputo. The dome of the station was designed by an associate of Gustav Eiffel, who designed Eiffel Tower. Other impressive parts of the station are the wrought-iron lattice work and verandas that grace the pistachio-green exterior. In the station there is a small exhibition of works of visiting as well local artists.
Natural History Museum
Located near Hotel Cardoso, Natural History Museum offers visitors opportunity to see its imposing Manueline architecture and its verdant garden with a mural by Malangatana. The museum features a small ethnography exhibit, some taxidermy specimen, and a mesmerizing display of the collection of elephant foetuses.
Central Market
Housed in a beautiful old building, Central Market is a hub of activity where visitors can buy numerous sorts of goods from an array of seafood, fruit and vegetables, household items, to basket ware, handicrafts, and carvings. Though it is basically a food market, tourists can buy souvenirs and trinkets as well.
