Dedicated on the protective divinities of seafarers, Sumiyoshi-jinja Shrine is one of the oldest such sites on the island. Main Hall and several important national treasures are the major attractions of this shrine. This Main Hall was rebuilt in 1623 in its current classical style.
Kyushu National Museum
Featuring engrossing architectural design, Kyushu National Museum is country's first new national museum in more than 100 years. The museum was built to house an extensive publicly-owned collection of art and historically significant artifacts related to the rich history of the island. The highlights of Kyushu National Museum include displays of pre-historic remnants found in number of archaeological digs and the exhibits that trace the affluent history of the island.
