Fresno is a county seat of Fresno County and a prominent city in California, US. It was founded by Central Pacific Railroad Company as a new railway station in 1872 AD. This city has a profound financial and industrial significance in the region. Fresno was inhabited by Chinese, Scandinavian, Germans, Japanese, Armenians and Spanish within a short time after its inception and a cumulative effect of the same ethnic mix is evident in the city’s cultural identity and festivals alike. Two of the most important festivals here are Rogue Festival and Tower District Mardi Gras Parade. The city also has its own share of tourist attractions and to start a day with Forestiere Underground Gardens would be more than delightful. These state-of-the-art underground gardens are a complex of underground gardens and rooms built by a Sicilian immigrant during 1906-46 AD.

Forestiere Underground Gardens
Forestiere Underground Gardens in Fresno, California are an unusual manmade creation built by a Sicilian immigrant, Baldasare Forestiere over a period of 40 years starting from 1906. The underground gardens were made as a dwelling place that could remain comparatively cooler in the typically hot summers typical of the city. The Forestiere Underground Gardens had an exclusive summer bedroom, a winter bedroom, a bath, a functional kitchen, a fish pond and a parlor with a fireplace. It also had an arrangement in the beautiful stone walls and archways that allowed for only a certain amount of sunshine to come through so as not to make the place very hot or damp.
Rogue Festival
The Rogue Festival showcases local and national artists. It has a consistent lineup of stage shows with dance, music, comedy, film, art, and theatre. It invites performers from all four corners of the Fresno County every year. Besides, the visitors can also get a chance to be crowned as ‘the face of the festival’ if they go on to become a muse for a performing artist.
Tower District Mardi Gras Parade
Perhaps the most pompous festival celebrated in Fresno is the French festival called the Tower District Mardi Gras Parade. This festival refers to the celebrations that begin on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three King's Day) and culminate on the day before Ash Wednesday. Popular practices on Mardi Gras include wearing masks and costumes, dancing, sports competitions, parades and more.
