Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa, one of the consecrated and most recognizable sites in the
city, is an allocated UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has a diameter of 120
meters and it is the largest temple in the country. The stupa is
constructed on an octagonal base encircled by prayer wheels and boasts
colorful prayer flags.
Everest Region
Everest Region, the 1,500-mile-long Himalaya range, encompasses all of the
world's fourteen 8000-meter peaks. This sector can be accessed by a
wonderful 30-minute flight to Lukla Airport. From the airport, travelers
can trek four two days to the Namche Bazaar, the central town in the
Everest Region.
Durbar Square
Durbar Square welcomes the visitors with its plethora of temples. The
square is in the west of city’s recreation ground and remains open all the
year round. The adornments in the crown of Durbar Square are Hanuman Dhoka,
Taleju Temple, and the Kumari Bahal, which is a three-storey structure in
which the 'living goddess', a young girl chosen from the Kathmandu valley
still resides.
Best Time to Visit Kathmandu
Weather-wise, the onset of autumn, between September and November, is the
best time to book flights from San Francisco to Kathmandu. This duration
between the summers and winters offer some of the most comforting weather
conditions for sightseeing. If booking for the peak season, it is advisable
to book Kathmandu flights in advance to avoid paying increased airfares at
the last minute.
