Yerevan is the capital of Armenia and among the most ancient cities of the
world. It is a cultural and spiritual center with several museums, churches
and monuments. Many tourists visit Yerevan for its cultural heritage and
distinctive architecture in addition to its rich history and modern
infrastructure. Local government organizes annual festivals to familiarize
tourists with traditions of Armenia. Some of these festivals organised here

Things to do in Yerevan
Matenadaran
The Matenadaran or Mashtots Institute of Ancient
Manuscripts is among the richest and oldest book depositories in the world.
Its collection comprises over 11,000 preserved handwritten books and 23,000
manuscripts in total. There is a museum complex which comprises 15 halls
wherein thousands of exclusive and temporary exhibits are on display.
Republic Square
Republic Square is the central town square in the city surrounded by five
prominent buildings, the History Museum, Government House, Armenia Marriott
Hotel, National Gallery, and the ministries of Foreign Affairs, all built
in neoclassical style. There is much to do around here. The square has a
pool and musical fountains and is one of the finest central squares created
in the 20th century. A statue of Lenin was placed in the square
during the Soviet era and the square was called Lenin Square. The statue
was removed, and the square was renamed right before Armenia’s independence
in 1991.
Cascade Complex
Conceived by the architect Alexander Tamanyan, the Cascade Complex was
built in 1980 to connect the downtown Ketron area with the Monument
neighbourhood. It is a huge stairway made of limestone which houses the
Cafesjian Center for the Arts(CCA). The CCA is among the city’s major
cultural attractions and showcases a wide variety of contemporary art
exhibitions. Additionally, it offers an assortment of documentaries,
lectures and films. The Cascade has external garden galleries and is a
beautiful symbol of the city.
Best Time to Visit Yerevan
The best time to book flights from Los Angeles to Yerevan is in the summer,
(from late May till early June) or in the late September till early October
when the weather is pleasant, to explore outdoors and enjoy everything the
city has to offer. It is advised to book Yerevan flights in advance to
avoid paying more at the last minute.
