Popular Destinations in Zambia
Livingstone
Livingstone, a town in southwestern Zambia, is located a few kilometers
from the Zambezi River. Nature lovers can visit the adjoining Mosi-oa-Tunya
National Park that borders the Zambian side of the falls. History lovers
can explore the Livingstone Museum that displays items related to local
history and archaeology. The city is home to old colonial buildings and
markets selling sculptures, textiles, and jewelry. Tourists can also take
kayaking and white-water rafting trips, wildlife-viewing safaris, and
flights over the falls.
Lusaka
Lusaka is the capital city of Zambia. Lusaka City Market, located in the
center of the city, sells clothing and several other goods. An excellent
place to visit for history lovers, the National Museum showcases the
archaeological finds and contemporary art. The Freedom Statue, located near
the National Museum, commemorates the country’s struggle for independence.
Located in the south of the city, Munda Wanga Environmental Park is home to
a wildlife sanctuary and botanical garden.
South Luangwa National Park
South Luangwa National Park is in east Zambia’s Luangwa River valley. An
excellent place to visit for nature and wildlife lovers, the park is known
for its rich wildlife and lovely landscape. Nature lovers can visit
woodland savannah that features hundreds of bird species. There are several
trails from the park’s lodges that take visitors past baobab trees, rare
Thornicroft’s giraffes, and herds of elephants.
