Springfield ArmoryThe Springfield Armory is a National Historic Site, which has preserved the colorful history of the city. The site recalls the significant role of the country's first armory. The armory preserves small arms collection along with historic archives, buildings, and landscapes of the world's largest historic US military. Near about 10,000 artifacts and objects are displayed here. Visitors can opt for a self-guided tour or a ranger-guided tour of the grounds as well as of the historic and the world's largest collection of American military firearms.
Forest ParkSpread over nearly 735 acres of land, Forest Park is the jewel of the Springfield city’s crown. Forest Park, one of the biggest urban parks in the county, is situated on the banks of the River Connecticut. Providing the spectacular views, the park is home to an outdoor amphitheater, an aquatic garden, a zoo and wooden trails between the trees. During Christmas holidays Bright Nights, a high-tech lighting show, is held here.
Michele & Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine ArtsThe Michele & Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts was set up in the year 1933, in an Art Deco style building. Housed in the museum is a vast and expansive collection of Asian, European, and American paintings, prints, sculptures, and watercolors. Here, one can witness numerous representative examples related to furniture, textile, drawings, metalwork, glass, and ceramics. An elaborate collection of European Art (French, Italian, and Dutch) is also part of the museum collection.
