Monticello is a city located in San Juan County in the US state of Utah. The city is nestled in the foothills of Abajo Mountains. Monticello is a bit cooler than other towns in the area. Uranium, ranching, and farming have played important roles in the economy and history of the city. Monticello is home to San Juan County Fair and Fairgrounds, which is the annual fair usually occurring during August. A 24th July Parade and Celebration are also organized annually in the city to commemorate Pioneer Day, which is a Utah holiday that commemorates the arrival of Mormon settlers to the Salt Lake Valley.

Frontier Museum
Constructed by the residents of San Juan County, Frontier Museum is in a historic barn adjacent to Southeast Utah Welcome Center. Frontier Museum is home to an interesting assortment of prehistoric and historic artifacts. It also offers a glimpse of the life of those who lived on the edge of the Great Sage Plain in the last century.
Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument
Located at around 28 miles from Monticello, Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument is a Utah State Monument boasting a rock panel carved with one of the largest known assortments of petroglyphs. The monument was added to the National Register of Historic Pages listings in 1976.
Monticello Utah Temple
Monticello Utah Temple is the temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple is located at the base of the Abajo Mountains. The exterior of Monticello Utah Temple is finished in a marble called Noah Creme. 13,000 tiles used in the temple were evaluated carefully to ensure they go with each other for a uniform effect.
