Klamath Falls is a city in and the county seat of Klamath County in Oregon, United States. It is neatly triangulated by the Cascade Range, lakes and rivers in the Klamath Basin, and offers stunning picture perfect beauty. It is also called the ‘City of Sunshine’ because it receives more than 300 days of sunshine annually to create a stunning backdrop for the snow-covered Mount Shasta, miles of sprawling farmland and a truckload of outdoor sports (like skiing, hiking, canoeing, rafting and biking). There are 10 more lakes within a 45 minute drive from the city and most of them are loved by birdwatchers. Klamath Falls lies at 90 minutes ride from the Crater Lake National Park. You should visit here for Crater Lake, it was made from a volcano that had erupted 7700 years ago and is the deepest lake in the United States.
Klamath County MuseumThe Klamath County Museum is the interlinking of the period when the Native Americans and European settlers had first seen each other here in 19th century. It has a stunning collection of artifacts and relics related to the Native Americans and European settlers. The museum also owns the Baldwin Hotel Museum situated outside the city. A former hotel, this museum flaunts two of the most opulent luxuries of early 20th century- indoor plumbing and electricity.
Favell MuseumThe Favell Museum in Klamath Falls offers a notable collection of more than 100000 Native American artifacts and exhibits. You should visit here for its 12000 years old artifacts like primitive ancient stone tools, native clothing, arrowheads, obsidian knives, spear points, intricate beadwork, basketry and pottery. The centerpiece of this museum is a superb fire opal arrowhead that was found in the Black Rock Desert in 1910.
Moore ParkMoore Park is located about 15 miles away from Klamath Falls. It is known for its vast range of flora and fauna, and its paved boat ramps that lead to a nearby lake for fishing. It is also one of the best places for migrant waterfowl in the country and it is a real delight for birdwatchers who can find many species of migrant and nesting forest birds here, including bald eagles.
