Montana is one of the northernmost states of the US and its capital is Helena. Situated in the Rocky Mountains and running along Canadian borders, this American beauty is admired for its stellar show of winter sports and historic monuments. This reputation is then seconded by its fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and biking facilities that are all neatly spread across a stunning backdrop of natural scenery and native wildlife. Venturing into Montana would summarily stun you with a picturesque marriage of history and architecture, as the state hosts a prolific series of Civil War sites, monuments, museums and architectural highlights besides being a gateway to the world-famous Yellowstone National Park. !

Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument

Montana’s numero uno historical attraction, the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument offers a screenshot of the famous ‘last stand’ of US Army General George against the local Native Americans in 1876. It comprises of a visitor center, museum, the Custer National Cemetery, the 7th Cavalry Memorial, and the Reno-Benteen Battlefield. Central to its reputation is a consistent mention of the Native Americans who fell defending their territory and identity with all their might.

The Museum of the Rockies

The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman (Montana) is home to the nation’s largest collection of dinosaur remains, hallmarked by the largest Tyrannosaurus skull found till date and a thigh bone of Tyrannosaurus Rex. The museum also proudly focuses on the 500 million year old regional history through 300000 artifacts and more than 10000 photographs and negatives. Another highlight here is a two-story Tinsley House that was built the same year when Montana became a state in 1893.

Montana State Capitol

Regarded as one of the most beautiful state capitols in the US, the Montana State Capitol is a late 19th century Greek Neoclassical superstructure in the state capital Helena. It is hallmarked by its copper-covered dome atop which sits a statue of Lady Liberty. Its rotunda is flanked by four 20th century circular paintings and several murals. You shouldn’t miss out either on a 100 year old painting here called the ‘Lewis and Clark Meeting the Flathead Indians at Ross' Hole.’ This 1912 AD painting is 25 feet long and is 12 feet high.

Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park is what happens when God decides to have some fun and puts some picture-perfect scenery, almost inaccessible mountain ranges, lush alpine meadows, dense forests, scenic waterfalls, semi-frozen lakes and lordly glaciers in one place. This glorious arrangement is seconded by nearly 700 miles of superb hiking and biking trails leading to a nearly 7000 feet high Logan Pass, the park’s highest drivable point by road.
