Wilmington is a city in Will County, Illinois (United States). Founded in 1834, this city is known for a large island that divides the Kankakee River into two channels. Obviously, this island is the reason where Wilmington's nickname ‘The Island City’ comes from. Two of the most notable attractions here that you wouldn’t like to miss out are the Gemini Giant (Muffler Man) and the historic Eagle Hotel.

Gemini Giant
The Gemini Giant is a landmark statue at the Eastern entrance to Wilmington. Standing outside a restaurant, the 30 foot tall statue is one of many giant ‘Muffler Man’ advertising props that were once immensely popular as advertising signs in America. Named after the Gemini space program, the Gemini Giant is depicted as a tall structure which is wearing an astronaut's space helmet and a silver spaceship in his hands.
Eagle Hotel
Eagle Hotel is a 19th century hotel built in Greek revival style in Wilmington. In its heydays, the Eagle Hotel used to flourish as the only place of rest to the farmers who used to come here to sell their wheat and corn. It is now turned into a public museum known as the Wilmington Area Historical Society Museum that hosts American Civil War relics.
