Sogndal is a municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden in the traditional district of Sogn and is famous for its prehistoric human civilization and natural scenery. Dating back to 700 BC, this Norwegian city is scenically located on the northern shore of the large Sognefjorden. The older civilizations have yielded it some unique artifacts like the Eggja stone (it is a 700 AD gravestone with runic inscriptions in Old Norse language), Kaupanger stavkyrkje (established in 1190 AD, it is the biggest wooden church in the Sognefjord region) and some assorted traces of Viking settlement. Another stellar attraction here is Norsk Bremuseum (The Norwegian Glacier Museum). It is located close to the city and provides knowledge about climate and particularly, glaciers.
