Sendai City Museum
The main museum of the city, Sendai City Museum puts on display an assortment of artifacts related to the Date family and the history of the city. The famous suit of armor belonging to Date Masamune and various artifacts related to Hasekura Tsunenaga's visit to Rome are also put on display here at Sendai City Museum.
Zuihoden
The mausoleum complex of Date Masamune and his heirs, Zuihoden is an excellent example of architectural brilliance. There are five historical monuments located inside the premises: Zuihoden, Kansenden, Zennoden, Myonkaibyo, and Okosamagobyo. There is also a museum located inside Zuihoden. This museum puts on display the items found in excavations of the Zennoden and Kansenden monuments before their reconstructions.
Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium
The largest museum in northeastern Japan, Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium showcases around 300 species of local marine life. There is a rare blue shark on display here, which is the only one of exhibit in entire country. The aquarium, in total, houses around 50,000 fish. There are large tanks and river water tanks so that visitors can enjoy the natural environment.
