26 July 1769 is the most red-lettered day in the history of Santa Ana. It is the day on which the city saw its first sunlight and was christened in the honor of Saint Anne by a Spanish expeditionist. This city was then developed as a green spot for cattle and farming. Exactly a hundred years later, William H. Spurgeon (the first mayor of the city) plotted a town site as Santa Ana which was later forwarded as a city. Santa Ana is now the commercial and administrative focal point Orange County in California.
