North Carolina Museum of Art
Much unlike any other museum that you might have visited in the city, North Carolina Museum of Art has the purest grade of aesthetics. It has a nice collection of Renaissance and Classical artworks. You should skip the line to admire Giotto di Bondone’s masterpiece called Peruzzi altarpiece. This magnum opus of di Bondone is surrounded by Virgin Mary and saints, and shows Jesus Christ blessing His followers.
Durham Cathedral
The Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary the Virgin and St. Cuthbert of Durham is better known as Durham Cathedral. Almost a millennium old, this cathedral is noted for its admirable British Romanesque architecture and finds a special mention as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Durham Cathedral is also a piece of history in itself because none of its architectural features have changed over last thousand years.
Durham Castle
There aren’t too many of monuments that could match the grade and grandeur of Durham Castle. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and was initially built as a fortress in 1072 AD.
