Mariehamn is a town and the capital of Aland (an autonomous territory) in Finland. The town was named after Maria Alexandrovna - the Russian Empress. The auditorium housed within the museum with the seating capacity of around 108 people is often rented for conferences and meetings. Pommern is the only large sailing vessel in the world which till date has been maintained in its original state. Entry to both, the museum and the ship, is possible through a single ticket.
SALT
SALT is a crafts house located in Mariehamns sea quarter. It is run Six designers who are also the co-owners. Both workshop and shop are housed here. During your visit to SALT, you will definitely get the chance to meet anyone of the six designers. There are several items made out of silver, ceramic, wood, and iron. All the items are unique and equally beautiful which can be used everyday.
Kastelholm
Kastelholm is in Sund, around 10 kilometers away from MAriehamn. The castle of Kastelholm dates back to 14th century and is said to be the last existing fortification in Aland. During the late 17th century the castle was abandonded. However it was renovated in the 20th century with the aim to showcase the different phases of construction and varied use over the time. Today, one of the buildings showcases exhibition related to the history of the Kastelholm castle.
