Located at a distance of around 10 kilometers south of Krasnoyarsk, Stolby Nature Sanctuary is known for its dramatic complexes of rock. Bazaikha River makes the natural boundary of the reserve in the northeast. The sanctuary is rich in flora including 740 vascular plants and 260 kinds of mosses.
Chasovnya Chapel:
To enjoy some magnificent views of the city, visitors can climb the Karaulyana Hill to the Chasovnya Chapel. The chapel was designed in the year 1855 by Konstantin Thon, who was the architect who designed Moscow's famous Christ the Saviour Cathedral. Visitors can also see the midday one-gun salute that is fired from just below the cathedral.
Regional Museum:
One of the oldest and biggest museums in Siberia and Far East, Regional Museum is housed in a beautiful 1912 art nouveau Egyptian temple. The museum is arranged around a ship of a Cossack explorer. Highlights of the collection here include the 4-meter-tall mammoth skeleton and the 20th century 'nostalgia' section located on the upper level.
