Sanyuan Temple
Built in 1375 AD, Sanyuan Temple is the largest and oldest Taoist temple in Guangzhou. This temple is built along Tao philosophy of furthering an active and holistic practice of the natural order and its universal awakening. Sanyuan Temple offers you a calm and serene place to retreat from your regular life and to meditate. If you don’t want to meditate, you can admire its classic fourteenth century architecture.

Hualin Temple
Hualin Temple is a 1500 year old Buddhist temple. It was earlier known as Genii or ‘the Temple of Five Hundred Gods’ and was one of the five largest Buddhist temples in the city then. Do visit the Hall of Five Hundred Arhats. It has five hundred golden yellow colored lifelike monk-like statues that are sitting in different postures and dispositions. The temple also has a statue of Marco Polo (the Italian explorer who came to China in the thirteenth century) and King Ashoka Pagoda (King Ashoka was a famous Indian king who had sent missionaries to China to propagate Buddhism).
