Greeneville boasts a number of farms owned and operated by the same family for about a century. Listed on the National Register of Historic Place, Elmwood Farm includes an 1831 home, a smokehouse, and an original 1784-1789 blockhouse. Susong Farm is located around eight miles south of Greeneville. This farm is open to the public during Greeneville's Historic Homes Week, and includes the original farmhouse built in 1862 and lots of other early 19th century buildings.
