Durango & Silverton Narrow-Gauge Railroad
This steam-gauge railroad is the face of the city and you would be stunned by its attractiveness. It is gorgeous to look at, both from the inside and outside and you can choose to sit either in one of the enclosed cars with an elaborate woodwork, or in an open-air car for a better viewing experience. It runs through the mountain town of Silverton while passing through some breathtaking scenery along the Animas River and in the San Juan Mountains.

The Durango Arts Center is an active centre that creates and promotes diverse arts experiences across a number of disciplines. It conducts many in-house exhibitions, performances and educational programs for people of all age groups. You can also visit the Durango Arts Center for live performances and art classes that are held at preset intervals across the year.
Vallecito Lake
Vallecito Lake is located close to the San Juan National Forest and Weminuche Wilderness Area. It is an amazing camping area, and is a popular for fishing, summer boating, horseback riding and hiking on warmer weekends. During winters, you can enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and sleigh riding here. Please note that prior reservations are required during festivals and national holidays.
