The epicenter of all cultural attractions and activities in Toluca, the Centro Cultural Mexiquense is home to a historical archive and three cultural museums. The Museo de Antropología y Historia focuses on the communal and historical growth of local Pre-Hispanic groups while the Museo de Culturas Populares highlights arty side of the city. Also visit the he Museo de Arte Moderno.

Centrally located Plaza de los Martires is dotted with some superb historical buildings. To its south you will find the imposing cathedral and the church of Veracruz, housing a Black Christ and superb interiors. The area also hosts the Day of the Dead festivities where you can purchase multi-colored sugar skulls.
