Low-cost carrier Ryanair will soon kick off a trial run for seating assignments when the airline begins charging customers $14 (about 10 euros) to reserve seats at the front of the plane and in the exit rows.
The seat assignment system will be put in place over the next few weeks on select flights from Dublin to London-Gatwick and Malaga, Spain. 24 seats will be made available for assignment on each flight during the trial run.
The fee is the latest for the airline best known for offering ultra-low base fares while charging for most extras.
The system could be expanded or scrapped altogether depending on customer reaction.
