Officials in New York City have announced another route change for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Due to scheduled work on a pedestrian plaza in Times Square, the parade will relocate from 7th Avenue to 6th Avenue in 2012 and 2013.
City officials said the parade route will be re-evaluated following completion of the project.
The plan has angered business and hotel owners along 7th Avenue who said they first found out about the change through news reports. They are concerned over loss of revenue from the move.
The Macy’s Parade is no stranger to controversial changes; in 2009 the parade re-located to 7th Avenue after vehicles were banned on parts of Broadway.
