There are so many lovely neighborhoods in Minneapolis. One of my favorite places to spend the day is the charming and cultured Linden Hills. Located in southwest Minneapolis, Linden Hills is home to a plethora of independently owned shops and restaurants. Here are my top picks, all located close to one another on 44th Street (just down the street from what locals refer to as “the village”).
Victory Home & Interiors
3505 W 44th St, Minneapolis
Owned and operated by interior designer and national tastemaker Kerry Ciardelli, Victory is stocked with a well-edited array of goods. You can find everything from vintage candlesticks to Persian rugs to scented oils to one-of-a-kind modern art pieces in this gorgeous shop. Kerry and her small staff of design experts are always on hand to help you find your next treasure.
Turtle Bread Company
3421 West 44th Street, Minneapolis
A Linden Hills institution, Turtle Bread Company offers a wide variety of bakery items (breads, cookies, muffins, scones, challah), as well as light breakfast, lunch and dinner fare. When the weather turns cold, one of my favorite things to do is to enjoy a freshly baked cinnamon roll and a cup of their rich java. Of course, I always grab a loaf of their famous sourdough bread to take home, too.
Brown and Greene Floral Market, Ltd.
4400 Beard Ave S, Minneapolis
I’m always struck by the creativity with which the talented staff at Brown and Greene approaches each project and store display. In addition to flowers, plants and foliage from local growers, Brown and Greene carries vintage pots, gifts and cards. If you’re looking for a bit of green in your life, or a unique souvenir to take home with you, Brown and Greene is a great place to start.
