These wise words of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. are as valid now as when they were said in his lifetime, during his fight for civil rights and equality for the African American community. Once again, the United States honors his immeasurable legacy of peace and tolerance with the annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday that invites us all to reflect on equality, the use of nonviolence to promote social change, and the value of public service.
