One Malaysian company has big plans for Miami’s future. Genting, the company that purchased land formerly owned by the Miami Herald, is looking to build a futuristic $3 billion casino resort on the property along Biscayne Bay.
The enormous resort would include four hotels, two residential towers, a three acre rooftop lagoon, and (with government permission) a full casino.
Though organizers would like to see a casino included in the project, failure to secure gambling rights is not expected to be a deal breaker.
The ambitious plan includes modern architecture designs which resemble something straight out of the Jetsons. Though there are numerous obstacles to overcome before construction starts, Genting is optimistic that Resorts World Miami could be open sometime in 2014.
