As if it’s not enough to have the most retail space under one roof in the entire country, the folks at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, have instituted a tradition that attempts to set yet another record in the “size” category.
The mall will host the World’s Largest Indoor Trick-or-Treat event on October 31, 2010 from 4 – 7 p.m. More than 150 stores in the mall will have candy on-hand to distribute to sugar-hungry children, who can grab a trick-or-treat bag at the event.
While the candy-hustling ensues, a costume contest in the Best Buy rotunda at 5:30 p.m. will award prizes to the most creative and uniquely outfitted patrons. Entertainment in the Rotunda will continue until 7 p.m.
The Anaphylaxis & Food Allergy Association (AFAA) is also hosting an allergy-free zone in the Sears Court from 4-7 p.m. where ingredient-sensitive kids can participate in safe activities free of candy allergens like nuts and chocolate.
They can make their own ghost souvenirs, watch a fog demonstration, learn how to make a ball float in thin air and make their hair stand up straight with the Van de Graaff generator.
