Over the next year, Lufthansa will install nearly 32,000 new seats across its short and medium-haul fleet.
Each seat’s new slim-back design will give passengers about two inches of increased legroom.
The colossal makeover will not only increase passenger comfort, it will also allow the airline to boost the fleet’s seating capacity by about 2,000.
The changes will also make each aircraft lighter and more fuel efficient.
The airline estimates that the new design will decrease the weight of each row by about 30 pounds.
The seating changes are a part of Lufthansa’s larger commitment to delivering European travelers a more comfortable in-flight experience.
Economy Class passengers traveling on domestic flights will once again be offered snacks while passengers on cross-border flights over two hours will be able to enjoy a hot meal.
