Here’s How Norwegian Air is Celebrating #RoaldDahlDay (Hint: It’s Awesome)

Written by Mary Zakheim

His name is synonymous with childhood fantasies, magical daydreams and a vivid imagination. We’re talking, of course, of Roald Dahl. The British author is perhaps best known for his fantastical hit books Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach and Fantastic Mr. Fox (among many, many more) as well as his amazing way of making up words that everyone seemed to understand upon reading them. Plus, did we mention just how beautifully magical he was?

So, of course, when we heard it was #RoaldDahlDay, we wanted to start gobbling up all of his inspiring words and scrumpdillyicious books!

And, as it turns out, we weren’t the only ones celebrating the whimsical author.

The airline, which announced the move in a press release this morning, are honoring Dahl by adding him to their long list of over 80 inspiring Scandinavians whose portraits are featured on the low-cost carrier’s planes.

To mark the rapid growth of their airline in the UK, Norwegian Air have decided to feature Dahl because he “captures the essence of a tail fin hero,” according to their press release. The author also has Norwegian roots!

So in honor of #RoaldDahlDay, let’s all keep dreaming, wishing, hoping and believing!

Oh, and here’s another charming bit of fantasy, just for funsies!

Which Roald Dahl books will you be reading today? Let us know in the comments!
