Passengers arriving on flights to London during the 2012 Summer Olympic Games can expect heavy volume at London’s Heathrow International Airport.
However, the heaviest travel day in the hub’s history is expected on the day after the closing ceremonies, as thousands of Olympic athletes, coaches, and trainers make their way back home.
On that day, Heathrow Airport will open a temporary Olympics Terminal to help ease congestion.
Nearly 10,000 Olympians will make their way through the temporary terminal. Special clearance will be needed to access the terminal but normal security checks will remain in place, according to officials.
