Are you an Anglophile? Are you obsessed with British programming – and perhaps even a bit of a nerd when it comes to TV and media? Do you also enjoy amusement parks? Well, the tourist attraction of your dreams may soon, in fact, be a reality!
BBC has recently partnered with Paramount Entertainment in development of The London Paramount Entertainment Resort. The park, will feature not only rides based on Star Trek and Transformers, but also beloved English franchises Top Gear, Sherlock, and the longest-running, possibly most beloved, Doctor Who. Exactly how these titles will be incorporated is still a mystery to the general public, but fans will surely be clamoring to wait in line regardless. Who wouldn’t want a chance to climb into a blue police box and travel throughout time and space?
In a statement, Stephen Davies, director of live events at BBC Worldwide, said, “We’re always looking for opportunities to extend fans’ enjoyment of their favourite shows and the idea behind the resort is a really exciting way of celebrating the very special place the BBC has in British culture.”
The projected cost of the park is £2bn and estimated to bring in 15 million visitors per year, according to The Telegraph. It’s scheduled for completion in Kent in 2020. So, you still have a bit of a wait left, but it sounds like it’ll be well worth it. It’s just one more good reason to take a trip across the pond. Besides, if you do get to ride in the TARDIS, you’ll have all the time in the universe to spare!
