Disney Cruise Line has announced that cruises will be launching from ports in New York, New York; Galveston, Texas; and Seattle, Washington in summer 2012.
The move of some ships from Disney’s home port in Port Canaveral, Florida to other cities in the US is designed to attract more vacationers by bringing the vacation to them.
“Guests can now enjoy a magical, one-of-a-kind experience with the convenience of departures from their own backyard,” said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line.
The New York cruises begin May 25, 2012. A total of 20 trips will be made on the 2,400-passenger Disney Magic.
After New York, the Disney Magic will head west to Galveston where 12 week-long cruises will sail to the Western Caribbean.
