The Department of Homeland Security recently unveiled changes to the terror alert system.
The color-coded terror alert system that was put in place under President Bush will be completely replaced next week.
The new system will be more simplistic with only two threat levels: elevated and imminent.
Alerts will now also feature expiration dates for individual threats, something that lacked under previous warnings.
Napolitano also stated that social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook could be used to get the word out on new warnings.
