American Airlines Flight Attendants Say New Boarding Policy is Causing Chaos

This blog post was updated on August 21, 2019.

The union representing American Airlines flight attendants is claiming that the carrier’s new boarding process is creating pre-flight chaos for both passengers and cabin crew.

The airline recently revised its boarding policy to allow passengers to board aircraft in the order that they checked in, regardless of their seat position.

American had previously adhered to the traditional back-to-front boarding process in which passengers with seats in the back of the plane were allowed to board first.

American changed the policy in May in an attempt to streamline the process and reduce gate traffic.

In response to the complaints, an airline spokesman defended the new process claiming that it has proven to be a faster and more efficient way of boarding.
