London’s 2012 Olympic ticket prices are out and they range from $3,225 for the opening ceremony to under $35 in an attempt to fill all of the venues, organizers said on Friday.
The 8.8 million public tickets for the 26 Olympic sports will be released on general sale in Britain in March with 2.5 million of them set to be purchased at $35 or less and two thirds with a face value of less than $80 (50 pounds).
Chairman of the organizing committee (LOCOG) Sebastian Coe described the pricing scheme as the “daddy of all ticket strategies”.
The top tickets will be expensive, however only 10 percent of them would be priced at more than $160 (100 pounds) while two thirds of the tickets will be priced at $80 or less.
Children will be able to purchase tickets through a “Pay Your Age” offer which would allow a 10-year-old to pay 10 pounds ( $16) for a ticket to any of the sports during the two week event.
