Children Now Exempt From Enhanced Pat-Downs

This blog post was updated on October 5, 2018.

Children are now exempt from the modified pat-downs at airports that have enraged some passengers. Instead kids will face less-intrusive hand searches from screeners, the TSA said.

“After a thorough risk assessment and after hearing concerns from parents, we made the decision that a modified pat-down would be used for children 12 years old and under who require extra screening,” a TSA spokesperson said.

TSA began “enhanced” pat-downs last month on passengers who refuse to enter body scanners.
