Portlanders, get ready: the city that loves its beer and food local and lively is putting some of their best and brightest to the test.
The Deschutes Brewery in Bend, OR, has a knack for throwing great parties (like December 11th’s Bicycle Bash) but their 2nd Annual Chef’s Challenge is what has us ready to ride on over.
Kurt Spak, from Alba Osteria, Ben Dyer of Laurelhurst Market, Adam Higgs of Acadia, Deschutes’ own Jeff Usinowicz, Scott Shampine of Davis Street Tavern, and Dave Anderson of Genoa are going Iron Chef-style into the breach, charged with creating the best food-and-beer pairing of the evening.
Chef Spak is the returning champion, looking to improve on last year’s Jubelale and Agnolotti al Plin with Oregon Black Truffles, and the $75 ticket price goes towards Morrison Child and Family Services organization, helping children and families in the area.
