The FAA has given approval for a plan that will greatly expand Philadelphia International Airport over the next 15 years.
The plan calls for the expansion of two existing runways, the construction of a new commuter terminal, and the creation of a fifth runway which will run along the Delaware River.
Officials say the vast changes are designed to reduce delays at the airport and handle anticipated growth over the next 50 years.
The ambitious project comes with a whopping $5.2 billion price tag and will displace nearly seventy homes in the surrounding area.
Those homes are expected to be purchased by the city and demolished ahead of construction. The massive project is expected to be completed by 2025.
