Supporters of the proposed high-speed rail project that would link Orlando and Tampa say they plan to hold a rally Wednesday in Orlando.
Construction of the proposed line is currently opposed by Governor Rick Scott who fears taxpayers would be left to foot the bill for overruns on the cost of constructing and operating the rail system.
Supporters of the plan are scrambling to create an authority, made up of officials from Tampa and Orlando, to oversee the allocation of $2.4 billion in federal funding already pledged toward construction of the rail.
They have until Friday to come up with a plan.
