Singapore Airlines Cutting Back on Japan Service

This blog post was updated on October 23, 2018.

Singapore Airlines has announced that it will be eliminating one of its two daily flights between Singapore and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport due to low demand. The flight suspensions will go into effect on March 27.

The reduction in flight frequency comes despite several reassurances from civil and aviation agencies that travel to Japan remains safe in the wake of the nation’s earthquake, tsunami, and subsequent nuclear scare.

The decision was strictly business according to Singapore Airlines. “Demand for flights in and out of Tokyo is weak,” a spokesman said.
