Travel Shot: Vineyard in Monterey, California

This blog post was updated on October 31, 2018.

This vineyard in Monterey, California is just one of many located along the county’s vast sunny countryside.

A resting place for many fleeing the Great Depression in the 1930s, Monterey was immortalized in several of author John Steinbeck’s most famous novels including Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat,
and East of Eden.

Today, the county is home to a number of family-owned vineyards and wineries.

Like many areas that thrive on tourism, Monterey took a bit of a hit during the recent Great Recession. Members of the Monterey County
Vintners and Growers Association are hoping that 12 new eight-foot murals along Highway 101 will lure in travelers passing through the area.

With views like this, who wouldn’t want to stop in for a tour or afternoon wine tasting?
