The world’s highest hotel opened its doors Tuesday in Hong Kong.
The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is housed inside of the International Commerce Center, the city’s tallest skyscraper which overlooks the Victoria Harbor.
Amenities at the 312-room hotel include the highest bar in the world, a top floor pool with an enormous ceiling mounted LCD TV, and one of the largest ballrooms in the city.
Hotel President and CEO Herve Humler could not pass up the opportunity to make a great pun. “We are taking luxury to new heights in every sense,” he said.
However, even at 1,600 feet, it appears as if the Ritz-Carlton’s claim to fame may be somewhat fleeting. The hotel will likely lose its title as world’s highest in 2014 with the opening of the J-Hotel in mainland China’s Shanghai Tower.
