The Southern US is reeling after the latest round of severe weather on Wednesday left entire communities devastated.
A string of deadly tornadoes left a trail of death and destruction across five states with early estimates putting the death toll near 300.
Officials in some of the hardest hit counties in Alabama and Mississippi have been going door to door looking for survivors amidst the rubble and debris.
Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia were also hit hard although the death toll in those states is expected to be much lower.
Forecasters say an active La Nina pattern is to blame for the increase in tornado activity over the past few weeks.
