Nissan Design Chosen as New York City’s Taxicab of Tomorrow

This blog post was updated on October 18, 2018.

Nissan’s NV200 minivan will be the next official taxicab of New York City, Mayor Michal Bloomberg announced yesterday.

The NV200 will join the city’s fleet in 2013 and become the official taxicab for the following decade.

The design was chosen over other minivans from Ford and Turkish automaker Karsan.

Nissan’s design offers features for both tourists and locals: a large moon roof allows for easy sightseeing while outlets and USB ports allow passengers to remain connected in between important meetings.

Nissan will also provide the city with 100 Nissan Leaf cars for drivers interested in testing out all-electric options. As part of the deal, the automaker will install charging stations throughout the city.
