NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Late Night during Blockbuster Exhibition

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City will keep its doors open later than ever during the final two days of a blockbuster exhibition.

On August 6 and 7, the Met will stay open until midnight, an unprecedented move in the institution’s history, to accommodate crowds gathering for the “Alexander McQueen: Save Beauty” exhibition.

The show, which showcases the work of a British fashion designer who committed suicide last year, has been drawing record crowds since opening on May 4. Met officials estimate 500,000 people have already views the exhibit.

Throughout the summer the museum has been taking special steps due to the raging popularity. The show’s run has already been extended twice and (for $50) visitors have been allowed to visit on Mondays, when the museum is normally closed.
