Entry to National Parks across the United States will be free this Saturday, September 24 in honor of Public Lands Day.
Along with free admission will come a chance for visitors to give a little back.
Over 2,000 volunteer events will take place across all 50 states and the District of Columbia in what organizers are calling the largest 1-day volunteer event in the nation.
Volunteers will work to remove litter, weed out invasive plant species, and assist in minor construction projects. The efforts will amount to $15 million in improvements, according to official estimates.
Those who can’t make it out on Saturday will have another chance to see the nation’s most beautiful parks for free over Veteran’s Day Weekend (November 11-13.)
Visitors should note that while no entry fees will be collected on these dates, other charges for camping, concessions, and select third party tours will still be in effect.
