Mount Rushmore is getting a little work done this week. Crews are currently working to fill in cracks and protect against weathering at the famous presidential landmark in South Dakota.
This isn’t the first time Mount Rushmore has gone “under the kinfe” for a touch up. The monument is inspected and improved about once a year.
The surrounding attractions at Mount Rushmore are expected to remain open throughout the repair process, which could extend well into next week.
However, portions of the Presidential Trail could be closed from time to time as crews swap out heavy equipment.
